Els Ports Walking Group

We’ve just started getting to know the area around us really well.  We have been promising ourselves a Mountain walking trip for 6 years and came across this group on one of the ex-pat forums here in Tortosa area. We have been on three walks so far and enjoyed them all thoroughly.  Two of the leaders Vivien and Philip Freakley have published a small guide book called “Mountain Walking in Southern Catalunya” so we are in very safe, experienced hands.

This one was the Vall d’intern and we gained 350m on a 5 km circular walk.

Heading upwards.

I knew we would enjoy it and I was right.  It is however a long time since I have done any serious walking, training Ten Tors  students in 2007 and it was quite hard.

The sun hiding, but threatening to join in the walk.

This week was much easier.

Barranc de Lloret was an easy 3 hour 4km walk which combined two short walks. Starting the barranc de Lloret near Mas de Barbarans  and included a visit to the impressive Cova Pintada and the waterfall at the Raco del Moro.
