Well finally got around to sending a review and not because I did not want too!! Had a ball at Manna house, Amanda is charming, funny, well informed and a great teacher. The surroundings are beautiful-facilities exceptional and although I cook a bit, great advice is given in an adult way and we got to eat loads of good food cooked with others in a great atmosphere. If you are thinking of doing this just do it, a great way to learn a bit more and meet likeminded people in a great setting. Thanks Amanda, 5 star.  Shiela

Hi Amanda and Simon,

Just a quick note to thank you both for the wonderful time I had at your cookery course.  You, Amanda, made it all great fun and I even managed to learn a thing or two, not bad for a pensioner.  Just as enjoyable was the after school party hosted by Simon where we all managed to eat what we had previously cooked.

Manna House is a wonderful  setting for your school and has great facilities, but what I will remember most is the laughter.

Thank you both so much.  Mary

Thank you Amanda and Simon what a lovely and interesting great to go on holiday and to learn new skills in the food world and to have fun while doing it nice large kitchen to work in, great tutors who know their skills matched by wonderful personalities, your rooms are lovely, tasteful and roomy always a plus to have a room that is en-suite, will be back for more and telling all my foodie friends.

Man make fire in Catalonian Olive Grove – and some really excellent food !

Having had a lifelong aversión to British BBQ´s – you know, the ones where you are expected to eat charcoaled Tesco sausages in soggy rolls with water running down your neck as it drips off the umbrella – I wasn´t too overwhelmed when my wife announced we are booked in at Manna House for a cooking holiday, already paid for so NO excuses.

There is, of course, one major difference between cooking outdoors in Britain and in Catalonia, the climate! It was hot and sunny and no sign at all of rain and Simon was waiting with ” welcome Drinks “- great start. There were 5 men on our break and we men were invited to get the BBQ fire alight. We set up and operated a Smoker. Simon showed us how to prepare the Smoker and light it and explain how exactly it worked, something completely new to me.  We were then shown how to prepare the different meats, rabbit and a rack of ribs, and start off the smoking process.

We also prepared a Chicken and Artichokes for the BBQ as well as various Marinades and Sauces. Simon was an expert and entertaining host making the holiday interesting and informative as well as entertaining.

The set-up at Manna is really top-notch, beautiful surroundings and excellent facilities. The accommodation (we stayed in the lodge) is clean and fresh, all recently completed with modern amenities but with a nod to its rustic past, very comfortable.

The meals at the end of the sessions, with the food from the kitchen, smoker and BBQ was Brilliant – as was the company. Well done Simon and Amanda  for a really fabulous time, we both thoroughly enjoyed it and I , most definitely, have caught the outdoor cooking bug –  thank you both until the next time!
